Re: Rusting Dies

Well so much for the vinegar treatment. It might have removed the rust but the Hornady One shot lube did nothing to prevent the rust from coming back . I went out and looked at the dies today and they are a heck of a lot more rustier than they were when I use the vinegar on them. I would have left t...

Re: New issues with reloading 9mm

OK I will double check it the next time I prime. Do you still recommend using some blue tape on the back side of the circular part of the primer trough to tighten it up in the carrier?

Re: New issues with reloading 9mm

Mike I got another question on my carrier that you modified for me. When I insert the primer trough into the carrier should it go down into the carrier far enough so that the flat top surface of primer trough (where the primer pin comes up) be level with the web ribs of the carrier. Obviously the sh...

Re: Rusting Dies

The Lee Reloading group on FB suggested using vinegar. I soaked the rusty dies in a bowl of white vinegar for a hour or so and it worked very well. I also scrubbed the dies with a soft bristle brush. That got all the rust off and then I cleaned then with brake clean, wiped them off and then sprayed ...

Rusting Dies

During my recent reloading session I noticed a lot of my other caliber dies that are installed on other turrets are getting a lot of surface rust on them. How should I clean all that off? Should I dry tumble them? Or is that a problem with getting all the media residue out of the dies? What sort of ...

New issues with reloading 9mm

OK I reloaded some 9mm yesterday after the press has sat idle for 6 months or more and noticed some weird issues. I have not touched the press in several months but when I started priming the first few cases the primer depth was way off. The primer stuck out about half its depth from the bottom of t...

Re: Homegrown powder checker

I am not sure when the errors occurred in my large batch loading. it might have happened when I still had the chain attached and was getting some failures to engage the drum. I then removed the chain and eliminated that issue but still might have had some low or no powder rounds. A friend suggested ...

Re: not much going on here these days

The weather has been too cold or nasty to reload in my garage here in the Houston area. I got lots of supplies for 9mm ready to go though.

Homegrown powder checker

Has anyone in the group ever developed their own power cop/load checker for use with a LLM? I have had a few squib rounds in my last 9MM batch using the auto drum and I am thinking I need a more positive method of checking the powder level in each case. I normally look into each case prior to seatin...

Can you post the size and length of the spring you used and the size of the small screw as well?

Re: New owner needs help!

Also you might want the Magic Mike carrier and primer pin mods that allow you to adjust the primer pin height to make sure the primer will not flip as it slides into position on top of the pin. I really like those mods.

Re: New owner needs help!

Sometimes I think those index flippers may have to wear in a little. I got some new flippers for my LLM this year and they started hanging up just like yours do. I finally had to just go back to my old flipper and my press works fine now with no indexing issues. I would put a dab of some STP or simi...

Re: New Loadmaster first observations

I had a friend make me some 3D printed plastic holders that attach to the holes in a standard pegboard. I think the pattern can be found at 3D Thingverse web site.
