daboone, I notice that link is all over the place. No way to fix all the instances. I solved the problem by by making the erroneous page redirect to the good one. Not sure how that link even got out. The .htm files were part of a PHP page server script i was playing with. They were never supposed to...

I hate to say it, but what is needed is a good new crisis.

A terrorist attack would likely do it.
The American public and the media are like 2 year olds.
They fixate on the newest shiny thing they see.
Give em a new shiny to keep em busy and they'll forget all about the gun control thing.

No the rounding is caused by normal use - 1000s and 1000s of cycles however. Jams just speed it up considerably. When the indexer is pulled out it moves the shell clockwise, and the extractor along with it. When the cartridge is ejected it pushes the extractor counterclockwise. this movement, slight...

It does nothing. The mod is to prevent the wear on the square portion of the carrier and prevent that wear , if already present, from effecting operation.

All that means is your press doesn't YET show the wear.

froznone; did you watch the video? DID YOU??? Look at 3:40 see the change? Extend the tang outward. and again at 4:00 see how the tip of the tang extends out past the 'rib'? It's not bent down it's extended straight out. Pay particular attention at 4:40 to what he says. long story short - You have ...

.... The round pegs are on the bottom, that photo is of the top of the shell plate. don Thank you. I know that. I was referring to the new penta design (which don't have pegs on the top or the bottom) - not the picture of the OLD Design. The holes on the top are from the forging process that formed ...

How does the Mod pictured keep the ejector from rotating? It looks like it contacts the shell plate as it bends over it - that should make the problem Worse not better. The correct mod is to extend the 'tang' until it is just past the edge of the rib on the carrier. That rib can be seen hiding the t...

I'm curious how the shell plate is turned with that setup. I don't see how the "Indexer" can get a bite on the thing to turn it. It pushes on the round pin now. But it might be a better locking method After it was in place. And then again 'stiction' along the entire contact point may overp...

Pin gauges tell me the opening in the FCD is .376 . Since SAMMI spec for minimum chamber is .379" , who's fault is it for accepting an out of spec die from LEE? You're using a broken tool and complaining that it doesn't work. Send it back to LEE and ask for one that is in spec.

Re: Interesting discussion of the Factory Crimp Die

Has anyone here actuually measured the ID of the carbide crimp ring and found the kind of dimensional discrepancies being talked out here: http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=92696 ? Or -- has anyone noticed that ammo crimped with the factory crimp die is subject to bullet setback if cycled thr...

My WAG. You have a die with an insert for a 380.

If this is a new die I'd send it back to LEE.

Sometimes the wrong insert gets into the wrong parts bin and put into the wrong die body.

I took a large feeder body, cut the rim off a 45 colt case and glued it into the feeder. That gives just enough support, the .40 cases don't tip any more. A Starline case has thicker walls close to the rim. Cut the rim off and ream until you can Just get a .40 through Of course that means I have a d...
