Lyman first and use online data from powder manufacturers to verify starting and max loads. If using lead boolits the Lyman Cast Bullet previous edition is the favorite of experienced cast loaders, the new one is good too especially if you yern to try long range single shot rifle stuff.

Depends upon what you are loading. Lead, FMJ, common chamber sizes or competition (tight) chambers, pistol, rifle. Devil is in the details. prs, who mostly loads lead in 45ACP or 45Colt or 40SW, thus never used the C-FCD except for brass prep and seats/crimps in separate stages. Uses internal sizers...

I've told this tale before, but here is my "hater's" story. I reloaded shot shells for years, since 1976 any way and shot "out back" frequently, still do. A fellow built a big house on property close by and noticed the shooting and we talked about it. He said, "I reload for ...

toss it, their cheap and i think Lee made improvments. I dropship mine to mike.[/i] Carload, I took a pretty close look at the new one and see no changes as compared to the one that cracked. The weak spot is at that primer rocker arm pivot. I think my press is "wearing" its 3rd carrier ri...

Cracked carrier = primer goofs

I have been trying a new boolit mold and fiddling a bit with powder coating the boolits in 45ACP. I loaded several small batches, during which process I heard an unusual "POP" noise and there after heard sort of small pop now and then at top of stroke. My attention on the new project, I di...

TightGroup is a typically a very consistent powder to drop. I use a baffle from Hornady in my Lee hopper, but not due to TightGroup; I also use Unique and even ffg Holy Black. I settle the powder before that first drop by tapping the hopper several times on the side with my screw driver handle. Then...

Carload does tend to be carried away with all of the mods, but if they work for him, great! My old Lee Loadmaster has none of Mike's mods. Its not that I am against those mods, its just that the darn press just keeps on churning it out without them and with a mod or two already done. Nice consistent...

Well, I gotta wonder why my carrier's center post has not swollen. I crank mine down a lot tighter than what you guys are. I probably hit 20 foot pounds easily. My newest shell plate is probably 2 years-old. I will keep an eye on it.

Yep, its pretty boring any more, no more screw-ups with primers or COL or anything; it just keeps cranking them out by the ton. Only problem for me is scrounging enough lead and finding pistol powders. I loaded 500 45ACP today with High Score 700X. I have not used that powder for years, but Ya use w...

consistent OAL and the three legged stool

I and others have mentioned before about arranging dies or mods so that the shell plate is stabilized with three points of contact, thus avoiding the variation in cartridge OAL due to shell plate tipping when first starting a run or finishing a run. I came up with another way of doing this yesterday...
