New shell plate issues

Postby Stripes Dude » Wed Jul 20, 2016 2:42 pm

Got a 38/357 shell plate to start loading 357 on my Loadmaster, and it's not indexing smoothly. When pulling up on the press handle, it moves freely about half way, hangs up, then goes the rest of the way. This causes a jerking index, which throws powder out of the cases.

I know there have been changes in shell plate design, but none of my other shell plates cause this and all are less than two years old. Any thoughts?

Try screwing flipper in one turn. Sounds like shell plate is jamming on indexer causing indexer to be very hard to pull out on down stroke of ram.

Shell plate should wiggle back and forth just a very small amount in each of the 5 positions as it rotates around when handle is all the way up.

Maybe?? If I understood properly.

I must have bumped the carrier a bit and it was misaligned. Realigned it and now it's operating properly.
