Stuck case

Postby Jal5 » Thu Aug 18, 2016 7:14 pm

I was going along smoothly running a bunch of 223 cases through the sizing die when one went in with a strange feel and got stuck. So its sruck in the die and hasnt pulled out of the shell plate.

Whats the best way to remove it without forcing any thing?

If it is a Lee Sizing die you can loosen the depriming pin lock nut at top of die, or remove it completely. Then, carefully drive the case out of the die, using the depriming pin as a punch & striking the top of it with a small hammer.

I have been using Imperal wax on my cases for several years & have never had a stuck case with it. Sprays & oils would sometimes give me a stuck case.

I got it by working the nut loose that holds the shellplate down. Next i loosened the knurled knob that holds the die carrier and slipped the whole thing off lifting it up and out. Now the die is free and i can remove that case by ordinary means.
