tighter shell holders?

Postby carload9 » Sat Feb 23, 2013 7:21 pm

Is there a different brand name shell holder that holds brass better in Lee classic cast turret press?

they vary a little bit between brands, but most are pretty close. Maybe you just have a bad one, what caliber? Try peening the edge a little to tighten it up

9mm one thats in LCCTP, i have 2 lee's.. They are just not tight enough, course they hold 40's also. I'll try peening a lil, if i can figure out where.

Try a Lyman x-12, I had to do that for 9x18mak because the #19 Lee was too loose. You can use the Lee #19 for .40s&w and use the Lyman #12 for 9mm.

Are 40s and 9mm the same base? No wonder they are loose.

finally it (lyman#12 shell holder for lee cctp) will be here in three more days! and a 12x12 inch hickory wood base (darwin solid base) plate for my LCCTP. These two pieces will make it smooth.

#12 lyman shell holder

lyman #12 shell holder came in and it is much better at holding nine brass in LCCTP. But not perfect. Ya gotta have a machine shop to mod stuff from any company. IMO.
