If a pro 1000 were used just to prime already decapped cases with the primer pockets preped, not a single die installed.
How reliable of a priming tool would this make? cases would be inspected before loading on another press.

I want to build a dedicated priming press with case feed, just thought the Pro 1000 might be a good base to build from.

It will work, I did tht exact thing with a 1000, but didn't like it because of the different feel than the LM. But, it did work fine, I also used it to decap 223 brass because of the ability to use the casefeeder and only three stations. If you know someone with one I would try it out first. You might like it just fine. JMO

I have a Lee Breech Lock Challenger that I use for all off press priming and depriming. Works well and dies are easy to change.

Thanks for the help fellows. I think I know of an old Pro 1000 still in the box. Going to call the guy tonight. If he doesn't have it anymore I'll get a new one.

I didn't suggest that Steve use a Challenger Press ML, I simply stated that that's what I use. You could stand to re-read a little yourself.

The nice thing about a Pro 1000 is that you can feel the primers go into the case.
