MERRY CHRISTMAS
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE, What kind of firearms or loadmaster goody's did you get this year?
She's not the full size 1911, she's the CMD version. I really like the way she fits my hand. However, after a closer inspection the slide to frame fit in the back isn't really great and whoever did the crowning on the barrel was having a bad day. It's all cosmetic but it still bothers me a little. I might try to re-crown the barrel myself.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS
THAT'S A REALLY NICE RUGER SPARKY 45, I GOT A STREAMLIGHT TLR-1s FOR MY AR & A WORK SHARP KNIFE& TOOL SHARPENER.
Good Swap!
Sparky, I had to go back & re-read your post. I thought at first that you said you got the new gun "for" your wife. I wondered how you were able to make a "swap" like that! (haha)
Since she got it for you--sounds like she's someone you can be mighty proud of & want to hold on to--no swapping.
I hope that God continues to Bless both of you in the New Year.

Crown Problem
Sparky, I was going to post a photo of my SR1911 CMD because I noticed the same problem with the end of the barrel. I took some fine emery cloth & polished mine to remove the rough spots & it looks like new. I took photo's of before & after, but Darwin said I needed a special program in order to post photo's here. Sorry about that, but you might can do the same with your barrel.
Sparky, I bought one of the SR1911 CMD models about 4 months ago. I do not see a crowning problem with it, but I do agree that the slide fit to frame is not that tight. It is a great shooter though. I have a Tisas full size 1911 that I bought about a year ago. For a low end 1911, it is a real tight fit between slide and frame. It shoots pretty good too, but not as good as the SR.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes you to get it back from Ruger.

No, you need to post photos or videos somewhere and post the link to it here. Check your personal messages.
When I refer to the Slide to Frame fit, I mean that when I jack the Slide, at least to me, the Slide didn't go forward enough to be flush with the Frame. The Slide was "proud" of the Frame by about 3/32", initially I thought there was an obstruction preventing the Slide from going forward enough, i.e. I thought the gun wasn't into battery position. That + a 10yr old could have done a better job of crowning the barrel.
It's on it's way back to Ruger and I never even got to fire a shot off.
This is what I'm talking about.
