I learned to shoot on rifles, and was taught to close the left eye. I had to learn keeping the off-side eye open when I started shooting handguns. I don't honestly think it makes me any more or less accurate -- it just provides a wider field of vision, and perhaps delays the onset of eye fatigue when shooting.

1)Yes, ditto less eye fatigue and headache & tension.
2)No stray projectiles using both eyes.
3)More confidence.
4)Switching to a.b, or c target quicker & on it, (lower,chest,head).
5)All ya have to do is try it and practice people.
6)I think its best for newbie, but not sure.
7)Rejuvenation of your shooting interest, then ya load more.
8)My concentration is relaxed and more steady.
9) Acguisition is much faster and steady with less nerves & muscles.

Good advice from all....both eyes open is probably the most preferred method unless you're cross dominant hand and eye....

l think its only way for close range pistol. Unless spastic,or weak. 90% of americans will never be shooters. Anything past close range pistol is whatever works best for the person.

I think the reason shooting with both eyes open helps carload so much is before keeping both of them open, he did all his shooting with both of them closed. :D

Uh, well, not to be facetious or anything, but WAY back in the day, one of the things that Uncle Sam's Flying Club trained me in was "natural point of aim". The gist of the thing was that you had to train yourself to not use the sights, but rather train yourself to raise (or lower) your weapon to the "natural" POI of your target. One of the ways you could determine if your training was effective was to draw and fire with your eyes closed. It was always surprising how good "some" of the troops got at this method of shooting. So maybe Carload's shooting with both eyes closed has some basis in reality?
