Finally joined a gun range

Awhile back I brought up how it was so expensive to join a club here around Charlotte NC, but I found one that was 50 bucs a year & joined last week. Its only 450 miles from where I live now. I was home visiting my mom last week 15 miles east of Pittsburgh & joined my buddy's range. It is bare bones, nice range. I shot 5 days out of the 7 that I was there while everyone was at work. It has already payed for itself. I figured I will be going home more often since mom is getting older, still working part time at 76 with no health issues, but need to get home more to visit. Anywho, I think it is the best 50 I have ever spent. Will still travel 70 miles down here to the natl forest free range once a month, but I cannot afford the join fees & yearly fees of the ranges around here. Thats my happy news for the day.

Thats great news doranj. I especially like it that you are going to visit your mom more often. I'm 79 & it thrills me when my children & grandchildren visit. Can't tell you how many times I have wished I could still go visit my mom & dad, but they have been dead many years now. Because of their faith, & my faith, I've made arrangements to visit & stay with them permanently when the Lord sees fit.
I've been fortunate that since 1970 I've been a member of a shooting range just 25 miles from my house. Just $100. per year & I can take my sons & grandsons, which I have done through the years. It has 5 pistol ranges & 5 rifle ranges, all with covered shooting benches & concrete floors. Longest rifle range is 300 yds. Also has a floored & covered pavilion with picnic tables & grill for family use & 4 bathrooms.
My hunting club has a 50' sighting in range in an old gravel pit. It's only 12 miles from me but I have never used it.
Glad you found a good place--AND--go see your mom every time you can & then some.
