bought a ruger380/LCP

This is where we can talk about our guns. I'd particularly like to see reviews and range reports of your guns, especially if it is a model that others may not be familiar with.

I like open carry. owb. Legal in Iowa, I open carry a lot. Sometimes though, concealed is the respectful way to go. Also there are some places I just don't want to spook the horses.

Not really. I DO carry with a belt holster, behind my left hip, but it's covered up with my T shirt. The bottom of the holster can often be seen, and the entire gun can be see at times (like while I'm riding my motorcycle). I try to keep it covered up, though.

Indiana does not specify that a gun must be concealed, but one must have a permit to carry in any case. I have a lifetime permit.

Good method Darwin. If a varmint was stalking you they would see you are armed and go find easier prey.

My 2 Cent's

I have a CCW permit, and have been carrying for a while, My philosophy about open carring is that, the a person that open carries becomes the first victim from a bad guy.

I used to have the same thought on the subject. Then I tried watching for the ocurances of a person carring getting picked off first. Also how many times trouble happens when there is a cop/gun present? It happens after they leave.

So I guess I have to say my method depends on location and situation. My neighborhood was overran with drugies and meth production about 10 years ago. I carried open all the time around home and in the yard. Petty theft was bad, they stayed the hell away from my place and my family. So situational awarenes is the name of the game.

There were 4 locations within 1-1/2 blocks of my home that got busted for meth production. It's cleaned up now.

^^^^^ what he said, an once of prevention worth a pound of cure.

The little buggers in my neighbor hood know that I am armed and stay the hell away from me, they see me in my garage loading ammo and casting.

Very respectfull around my abode

I tend to keep a low profile most of the time, but I don't worry at all if my gun is showing while in my yard.

As for when I'm riding my motorcycle, I figure if people behind me see it, they may be inclined to give me a little more space..... :D

In TX the concealed carry law means exactly that. If my gun even prints through my clothing and someone makes a big deal out of it, I go to jail. Fine line to walk down here.
