New Gun!

This is where we can talk about our guns. I'd particularly like to see reviews and range reports of your guns, especially if it is a model that others may not be familiar with.

New Gun!

Postby GhostlyOne » Mon Aug 26, 2013 9:47 pm

My Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan came in last week. Just found some 44 mag to shoot in it. WOOF! Not the kind of gun to put hundreds of rounds thru in an afternoon at the range. Recoil is not as bad as I expected, but still is forceful. Some of the people at the range left as soon as I started shooting. One gal said that I was lighting up the range all the way to the end with the muzzle flash! Lovin' the gun! :D

lol...there sweet guns, I have the one in 454 Casull, and my local LGS has the little brother in 44Mag for sale.

I may have to do some wheeling and dealing soon.

One of the out door ranges I go to is run by the state and its relativly new, it has all kinds of Concrete baffles and when I touch off the Alaskan 454 with that snub nose on and 3 feet of fire and reverberation off the baffles the whole range will stop and look.

I was at a state run range a couple of years ago and a young guy shot his .50 caliber Desert Eagle for the first time. He was REALLY excited. He told the range master that he got an erection when he did it.

I was doing my requisite 150 rounds at Williams Gunsight range in Davison Michigan a few years ago. Guy next to me was firing a Desert Eagle .50. The target was safe! He asked me to fire it. I did, not too well, but I managed to put 10 out of 10 on paper. He proceeded to fire another 200 rounds thru it. I think he hit paper maybe 15 times. He told me later that it was his FIRST gun! Darn expensive for the first gun if you ask me.

I had a DE 50 AE, gun was very accurate but the mags were really crap, follower allways was hanging up, free floating mag, you can't put your hand on the bottom of the mag or it jams, you have to use the push pull grip method.

Also can't load any lead rounds as it will clog up the gas piston and you wind up buying a new barrel.

Also very little room for powder loading veriation, something like 32-33 grains of H110, its all or nothing.
