I've been waiting on one of these for a long, long time. Every so often I check in on the Hi Point forum

http://www.hipointfirearmsforums.com/Forum/index.php/topic,14786.135.html

I saw this, from one of their engineers.

OK, here we go........

Real explanation......1st 4595 prototype made with old stock after some changes to the stock mold to make it stronger. Worked great !
Decided to postpone production until new stock was complete.....Not too many know what kind of work this takes for a complete redesign !
After we decided on a design, after around 10 different CAD drawings and a couple wooden prototypes, finally agreed on one.

My first prototype ( the one I've seen pictures of on this site that Jim is holding ) was made in 40 cal. and completely machined from a solid piece of garolite
( reinforced epoxy resin ). After testing, we decided to go with it......

Now...mold design...This is not a simple process either. 2 large molds had to be made just for the stock portion of the 9 and 40-45 (they are different)
Then there are other molds to be made such as..front shroud cover, rails, cheek pad, butt plate and plungers, small parts like the front snap clip and washer..ect...
All of these parts must fit together after molding. Each mold, depending on the size, will take 6-8 weeks each just to build if my CAD designs are correct.
( and even I make mistakes ) As you can see, this stock was designed much stronger than the original. ( yes..same polymar, but seems to be stronger material)

We decided to make the 9mm stock first....After finally getting parts, there is alot of testing involved, changes, and more changes.
Once we think we have it correct, then we have the molds etched to get the textured finishes on the parts. ( another couple weeks )
And don't forget...our plan is to make this stock fit all the older rifles we have out there. Which have had small changes through the years.
Now..testing and more testing...OK, lets ship some to get some feed back....

OK now...we need a front handle...we need more rails...( remember 40-45 mold not even made yet and every change on the 9 has to be made to the 40-45 drawings)
Cry I need a vacation )

Now we are shipping some...feed back good...need to change all assembly processes for new stock to keep up , ect...

Here is where we are...molds for 40-45 are being made and close. As stated, lots of testing to do after we get parts. Please do not ask me questions on this.
I do not have time to respond and cannot give any projected times on when things will happen. I enjoy reading this site from time to time, to see what everyone thinks
and sometimes even post a little. Also..please do not call in to ask about this either. The nice ladies on the phone are very busy with orders and alot of other things.
We are doing our best !
Thanks for the site and your support.

End quote.

Good news - at least they are working on it.

Great news. I have a 9mm carbine, and a C9 pistol. Had a JHP but gave it to my furnace guy for installing heat in my garage. The C9 is my wife's gun. She prefers it to my Smith. Laughing

Yeah, well don't hold your breath. Crying or Very sad

I went back and checked the thread and it's still vaporware. I've been waiting 2 or 3 years and it's always been just a little longer. I called the factory once and they said in March or April for sure - that was March or April of '08 or '09.

Didn't happen.

A friend of mine bought his first gun ever - a 9mm carbine. He did it when Uhhhhbama got elected. He still hasn't shot it! I definitely need him to the range this spring.

I don't know if he's ever fired any type of gun in his life.
