I shoot "as cast" for my Ruger in 45.LC

I tumble the boolits in Lee Liquid Alox, let them dry, the lube again, so a double coat.

When I was using one coat, I was getting leading, but with the double, very little if any leading.

I love to cast my bullets. I decided to get the Lee TL bullet molds to make things easier. I tried pan lubing. It was a little more time consuming (but I must admit, I enjoy the pan lubing process). Getting all the supplies like Bee's wax, STP, etc needed to make the bullet lubes started getting expensive. I did find a good site for some really good homemade bullet lube at a very reasonable price. I stuck with the Lee Alox lube. I did notice some leading in my barrel. I started applying a second coat of Alox and I don't see any leading. After applying the first coat, I dry overnight, size and apply another coat of Alox. I also now have all my cleaning supplies with me when I shoot. I keep my barrels clean every 100 rounds or so or sooner if I notice accuracy decrease. Citywaterman

For smokeless powder I tumble lube my as cast frosty boolits. For BP I use the Lyman 450 with a .454 die and homemade BP lube.

Alox is good stuff but Xlox is cheaper and every bit a good. Whitle Label Lube at http://www.lsstuff.com/lube/index.html is a great place to find excellent lubes at fair prices and shipping. I've been using their BAC and 50/50 bees wax for some time with my 4500 lyman. The BAC does require a heater but in the Phoenix summer time it stays put.

I really thin my alox/xlox out with thinner so the coat is barely noticeable. It dries over night here in 2 to 10% humidity! Dusting them with powder hasn't been necessary for me. Thinning it out really helps reduce the build up in the seating/crimping dies and hasn't increased leading.

Alox or Xlox work very well for me with sub-sonic loads. I get less leading with harder lubes with most of my rifle. But another key to leading is bullet fit and BHN. I have 4 stacks of alloys: pure lead (running out Sad ) then BHNs of 10, 16 and 22.

WW are becoming Very difficult to find. My son works for a large trucking company and one of the guys in the shop save some for us and I give him some 9mm boolits in return. Unfortunately it's not a real steady supply due to the rule and regs governing lead disposal.

I have bought Carnauba Red, BAC and 50/50 bullet lubes from White Label lubes. Fast shipping and a quality product. Best price I could get for bullet lubes.
