6S or 19S for 9mm?

Postby HHomebrewer52 » Mon May 21, 2018 1:58 pm

Hey guys,

I am setting up new loadmaster that came barebones. From reading on the forum I know the 9mm 19s shellplate success rate is hit or miss. I was wondering if any here had any experience with the 6S shell plate that had been modified like MagicMike has done. I have access to a drill press to grind out the shell cavity. I was just wondering if it's worth the time and effort.

thanks,

Jabin

Yes, modified 6S works just fine as mechanical centering method. Most just use 19S and move case retainer out to get proper alignment. I use a 19S with wire inserts glued in to hold case centered properly. (was much easier for me to do than 6S modification) I prefer a mechanical centering method over the "centrifugal" method used with retainer moved out. Have done many thousands with modified 19S without issue. And yes I have two 19S, one for 9mm and one for 40 S&W.
