LM Indexing

Postby hollywood63 » Sun Nov 11, 2018 12:16 pm

So when I use the #1 shell plate with just the pins on the bottom it indexes perfectly. When I try the #6 & 19 plates with the molded index non pin style plate it catches the edge of the case in the expander die (9MM). So I adjust the index arm in and out to find the sweet spot and the first to indexes the plate is loose the third is perfect and that last two the plate is tight. Its almost like the molded index part of the plate is off center. Anyone run into this?

Yep. I have had to grind the lugs on at least two positions on every new style plate I have in order to stop them from binding. The first 6s plate I bought was so bad I finally threw it in the trash. (it's the one in my video about the 6s plates.) You are not alone my friend. You can also bevel the remaining three corners on the index rod to allow for 1/4 turn adjustments which I have found to be very helpful.
